Morton’s Employee Clocks Off after 38 year
Howard Murray has retired from his role with agricultural specialist Joseph Morton Ltd after an impressive 38 years working for the company.
Howard joined Morton’s in 1977 as an area sales representative, later being promoted to Speciality Products Manager. His role involved travelling throughout Northern Ireland, providing technical advice to Morton’s customers. Brought up on the family farm in Rathfriland, Howard worked in dairy farming and in various sales roles before joining Morton’s.
Ray Morrison, Technical Manager, Morton’s said: “Howard has been a great employee, and a great friend, and he will be very much missed by his colleagues and customers alike. He’s an incredibly hard worker with excellent technical knowledge and astute judgement, and he also has a very positive attitude. He has become a good friend to many of his customers over the years, and I’ve no doubt he’ll stay in touch with them in the future. We would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to Howard for his many years of hard work and loyalty and we wish him all the best in his retirement.”
Howard, who plans to spend more time with his grandchildren and wider family upon retirement, says that he has thoroughly enjoyed his career: “Morton’s is a very innovative company which has grown and flourished over the years, and it’s great to have been a part of that. When I joined originally it was largely a spring oriented business, but it’s now very much a year round operation with a broad range of products. Our customers’ requirements have also changed, with farm size increasing significantly, along with associated costs. It has been very rewarding to be able to help our farming customers get the best from their land and to ultimately help their bottom line. I will certainly miss the challenges of my job, but I am looking forward to making the most of my retirement.”
